The major downside is that the UI is clunky and slow and - if you want to take advantage of digital purchases - the Wii U eShop shuts down at the end of July, meaning you'll be hunting down physical games afterwards.

The Wii U is a fantastic system with borderline obscene modding capabilities: you can very easily have one play GameCube, Wii U, and Wii games, plus also install RetroArch on the thing. I think you should look at the library on the Wii and Wii U and see how much of those are represented on the Switch (or rumored to be ported).įor instance, if you were intending to play Xenoblade on the Wii, it's being released on Switch this week. What’s the best way to experience the last two Nintendo home console generations with money not really being an issue, but with me preferring to do it in the most economical way because part of the idea of waiting on game experiences for me is saving money (I fully realize Nintendo doesn’t always have a history of this happening big time)? Ok so help me out Era and I will fill in any questions.
However if most of the best games from Wii and Wii U have either already came out on the Switch or will come out on the Switch that may be the way to go? That said I don’t want to purchase Wii games on the Switch for 60 if I can buy them used for far less and play them on the Wii or Wii U. I plan to get a Switch eventually, but I would like to wait until they are cheaper and hopefully have the Joy Con fixed at some point. In the near term is this the best solution to catching up on these misses.

It seems like that’s the cheapest option? And I can use virtual console as well to purchase games or play some for free as I understand it? I’d be wanting the 32GB correct? And I can buy used Wii discs to play on it as well as used Wii U games? And not need to buy a Wii-Mote? FWIW unless advised in here I’m not dying to play games with the motion controls.
I can buy a Wii U (looks like somewhere around 130 from a quick google glance) which plays Wii and Wii U games. I will share what I “think” I know and what I think my options are as best as I understand them. Being in my mid 30’s now I can afford a lot, but I’m frugal by nature. What I don’t know is the best way to do that from an economic standpoint. Essentially just the cream of the crop best Wii games and best Wii U games. So I want to experience the classics I missed out on. Fast forward to present day and I.still haven’t done it.

Got a PS4 as a wedding present later down the line again with the full intention of buying the Ninetndo console systems I missed.

When PS3 came out I bought one with the intention to buy the Wii eventually, it just never happened due to my career. I have always bought Sony console’s as well (minus PS1). Had a NES, SNES classic, 64, and GameCube. I love Nintendo and feel as if I always want to experience their first party games.
